Daniel Whitcombe
Daniel has directed live television and festival broadcasts since founding simpliqra in 2013. He oversees every control room design.
Four people plan, build and run every production, from the first kit list to the last cue. Here is who they are and what each of them looks after.
Daniel, Priya, Callum and Hannah each own a distinct part of a production. Between them they cover design, vision mixing, streaming and planning, and they work together on every job.

Priya cuts multi-camera concerts and stage shows, and trains new operators on the switcher.
Callum builds and monitors the encoding and delivery chain for live streams from venues of every size.
Hannah plans crews, schedules and kit lists so each production arrives prepared and runs on time.

A live show goes well when everyone knows their own job and trusts the person beside them. We split responsibility clearly and keep the same small crew together wherever the schedule allows.
Hannah collects the details first: venue, timings, cameras, crew numbers and kit. She turns them into a schedule and kit list that everyone sees well ahead of the event. Daniel reviews the technical side, particularly any control room layout or cabling route. Questions are raised early, while they are still easy to answer. By the time the crew arrives, the plan has already been checked by more than one person.
Priya cuts the programme at the switcher, working with the director over talkback or following the script. Callum looks after encoding, delivery and monitoring wherever a stream is involved, watching the outgoing signal rather than trusting that it is fine. Replay, graphics and cueing operators sit within the same crew and share the same intercom. Instructions stay short and clear so nobody has to guess.
Where a venue wants to run its own shows, we explain the equipment in plain terms and let your people practise on it. Priya trains new operators on the switcher, and Daniel walks through the control room design so the logic behind each choice is understood. Afterwards you receive recordings and any notes on settings or cable labels. The aim is that you can carry on confidently once we have left.
