FAQ

Straight answers about crews, kit, venues and how a live production with simpliqra is planned and delivered.

Questions we are asked before a show

Organisers usually ask the same things before booking a crew. These answers cover how we work, what we bring and what we need from you.

What kinds of events do you cover?

We work on concerts, festivals, stage productions, parties and streamed events across the East of England. The crew and kit are sized to the show, from a two-camera livestream in a small hall to a larger multi-camera production with a temporary control room. Tell us the venue and format and we will say what fits.

Can you work from our venue or studio?

Yes. We can bring a compact production deck to your venue, crew a temporary control room on site, or work within a studio you already have. Before the day, Hannah Brooks arranges a site check or a call to cover power, cable routes, sightlines and network access.

Do you supply the cameras and equipment?

We can supply the switching, monitoring, graphics, replay and streaming equipment for the control room, and crew it. Camera numbers and types depend on the production, so we agree a kit list with you in writing. If your venue has its own cameras, we can work with them.

How early should we get in touch?

As early as you can. Earlier contact gives us time to plan the crew, visit the venue and prepare the kit list. We do take shorter-notice enquiries, but availability on busy festival weekends varies, so we answer honestly about what we can staff.

Can you stream our event online as well as mix it?

Yes. Callum Reeve builds and monitors the encoding and delivery chain, and we can add on-screen graphics. We work with your chosen streaming destination, test the connection beforehand and keep an eye on the feed throughout the show.

What do you need to know to give us a quote?

The date, venue, type of event, expected running time and how many cameras you want. Tell us whether the show is recorded, streamed or both, and whether you need replay, graphics or show calling. A rough idea is enough to start the conversation.

Who calls the show and cues the cameras?

Our production management and cueing service provides a show caller who works to your script or running order. They keep cameras, sound and stage cues in step over talkback, so the vision mixer and operators know what is coming next.

How do ordering and payment work?

You send an enquiry through the contact page, we reply with a written quotation, and once you confirm we issue an invoice paid by bank transfer. Nothing is bought on the website itself. Cancellations follow our payment and refund policy.

Send us the date, venue and what you want to capture. We will suggest vision mixing, streaming, replay or crewing to suit, and confirm the details in a written quotation.

What helps a live production run smoothly

Most problems on a live show can be avoided before the doors open. A little preparation on both sides makes the day calmer, and these are the points we raise most often with organisers.

Site and access

We need to know where the control room will sit, how cables will reach the cameras and where power comes from. A site visit or a short call with your venue manager settles most of this. Load-in times matter too, because setting up a control room properly takes longer than people expect. Give us a named contact at the venue on the day.

Script and running order

Send the running order or script as early as you can, even in draft. The show caller and vision mixer use it to plan shots, cues and graphics. Changes are normal and we handle them, but a clear starting point means fewer surprises. If there are speeches, video playback or guest changeovers, tell us where they fall.

Rehearsal and checks

Where the schedule allows, a rehearsal lets the crew try camera positions and talkback before the audience arrives. We test the stream or recording feed in advance and keep a backup plan ready. If there is no rehearsal, we agree a short line check instead so everyone starts the show confident.
